Manufacturing

Red Dot's manufacturing philosophy is one that incorporates “Lean Manufacturing Techniques” to optimize our flexibility in the processing of component parts and assemblies, while maintaining quality of workmanship and improving through put. To achieve this, Red Dot draws from the following practices:

  • J.I.T. (Just In Time), to minimize inventory levels
  • Pre-cut width coil stock
  • Employee cross-training
  • Computer-aided forecasting systems
  • Manufacturing is involved in product design
  • Building block sub-assembly
  • Kan Ban control systems to maximize flow rate
  • Lean Techniques minimize cycle times and limits waste
  • Low inventory of purchased materials and components
  • Employee participation in “Kaizen” events to continuously improve processes and throughput

Red Dot is a vertically integrated company that manufactures more of the components used in our products than any other HVAC supplier in the heavy-duty industry. The manufacturing processes involved in producing condensers, evaporators, heater cores and sheet metal components requires specialized equipment. Red Dot has this equipment, and the technology, and the knowledgeable personnel required to build these components. Recent investments include a computer-driven laser cutting machine and two high-speed CNC turret presses to improve the ability to quickly produce sheet metal components and tooling.

Additional capabilities include the manufacture of mechanical controls, wire harnesses, tube assemblies and refrigerant hose assemblies. In addition Red Dot has the capacity and expertise to design, manufacture and maintain a complete set of tools, jigs and fixtures to compliment its manufacturing processes. Our strategy is to continually invest in equipment and have the resources available that offer tremendous flexibility to quickly and efficiently build to customer specifications.
