SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Today, Red Dot Corporation, a leader in heating and air conditioning for commercial and military vehicles, announced the hire of Scott Latimer as regional sales manager. With unique local and product line experience, Latimer will help support Red Dot Corporation’s Navistar product lines, as well as partner with Red Dot Corporation’s distributors in the U.S. Midwest region to grow business.
“In particular, we’re excited to bring Scott’s Navistar experience on board, and ensure that distributors that sell our Navistar product line will thrive.”
Latimer joins Red Dot from Navistar, where he worked in Lisle, Ill. as senior product manager for five years. As the leader of product management for the aftermarket distributor, he interfaced with dealers, customers and suppliers on a daily basis to grow the company’s business. “Scott is a vocal advocate for Red Dot’s products—and an even bigger advocate for our distributors,” said Pat Carroll, vice president of sales at Red Dot. “In particular, we’re excited to bring Scott’s Navistar experience on board, and ensure that distributors that sell our Navistar product line will thrive.”
Latimer’s addition to the Red Dot team is part of the company’s broader effort to redouble its commitment to the aftermarket segment. By bolstering its aftermarket personnel, Red Dot has staked out its claim towards being the preeminent player in the mobile HVAC aftermarket segment—dedicated to helping support distributors through every stage, and cementing Red Dot as the first and only call any distributor ever needs to make.
Bringing 18 years of experience to the job, Latimer has also previously worked in parts management for Harlow’s Bus Sales, and in vehicle maintenance for Laidlaw.
“I’m excited to work with Red Dot to amplify their aftermarket presence in the Midwest,” said Latimer. “For the next several years, the company has set some ambitious goals in the aftermarket space. I know how much my customers loved Red Dot product—and I can’t wait to help our distributors grow.”
Latimer is one of several major aftermarket personnel additions the company has made, including Ken Montelongo, aftermarket regional manager; John McCormack, senior supply chain manager; and Brian Kennedy, aftermarket manager.

Elio Motors (OTCQX:ELIO), the start-up vehicle manufacturer planning to launch a three-wheel vehicle that will get up to 84 mpg, today announced it has named RedDOT Corporation as its heating, ventilation and air conditioning supplier.
The HVAC system is scheduled to be tested on an E-Series vehicle – Elio Motors’ planned 23 testing and engineering vehicles – at RedDOT’s headquarters in Seattle, Wash. RedDOT, which has been in the mobile HVAC business since 1965, has an expertise in providing HVAC systems for unique vehicle configurations, including construction equipment cabins, heavy-duty trucks and military vehicles. Elio Motors sought out a supplier that could create a custom system to maximize driver and passenger comfort in the Elio’s unique interior configuration.
“Interior comfort is an essential, but often overlooked element of the overall customer experience, so it’s critical to find an HVAC supplier that can customize a solution for our unique cockpit-like space,” said Elio Motors founder and CEO Paul Elio. “RedDOT has a rich history of developing custom-designed HVAC systems. If they can keep our military cool in a Humvee, they have an expertise that will enhance our customers’ vehicle experience.”
RedDOT system testing will include air-flow, defrost, refrigerant charge, air conditioning and heater performance tests at extreme temperatures ranging from 0 degrees F to 110 degrees (-17ºC ~ +44ºC).
“After more than 50 years of developing commercial vehicle and military HVAC systems, this opportunity to work with Elio Motors is a great way to expand our presence in the passenger vehicle market,” said Randolph Grover, Military Sales Manager for RedDOT. “We’re confident our years of experience in working in arctic and desert environments on four continents will transfer exceptionally well to the Elio.”
Over the past several months, Elio Motors’ progress toward production has been accelerating. Among milestones that the company has achieved recently:
• Raising nearly $17 million through a Regulation A+ stock offering
• Publicly listing its stock on the OTCQX;
• Launching its innovative new ePlus mass personalization system, and
• Unveiling the E1A, the first in a series of engineering vehicles utilized for final testing and validation purposes.
“We continue to make progress with our operations each and every day, and our HVAC system development and testing is yet another positive step in the right direction,” Elio said. “The testing and validation phase provides important learnings that will allow our team to fine-tune our vehicle design and move the company closer to the production state.”
